Sarah Lillie
Sarah Lillie, MPH, is a Cancer Research Training Award Fellow in the Office of the
Associate Director of the Applied Research Program. She is studying the implementation of
evidence-based medicine with Dr. Stephen Taplin, working on the CancerSPACE initiative.
Past research has focused on health literacy, health communication, and risk perception.
She received her Master of Public Health in Health Behavior and Health Education from the
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2006, and graduated with a BA in Sociology
from Vassar College in 2000.
Ms. Lillie's research with Dr. Noel Brewer (UNC School of Public Health) has been
published in Annals of Internal Medicine, Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers and Prevention,
and Risk Analysis. She received a Meritorious Student Abstract Award from the Society of
Behavioral Medicine in 2006 and a Meritorious Student Poster Award from the Lineberger
Comprehensive Cancer Center in 2006 for "Communicating Breast Cancer Recurrence Risk: The
Role of Health Literacy."
