Report Outlines Physical Activity Interventions for Youth

The Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans Midcourse Report: Strategies to Increase Physical Activity Among Youth, issued in March 2013, describes intervention strategies for increasing physical activity among youth aged 3 to 17 years. The strategies are grouped into five settings where youth live, learn, and play: school; preschool and childcare; community; family and home; and primary health care. The Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans were issued in 2008 and provide science-based guidance to help Americans aged 6 and older improve their health through appropriate physical activity.

Risk Factor Monitoring and Methods Branch (RFMMB) staff Drs. Richard Troiano and Robin McKinnon served on the Midcourse Report Subcommittee.
