Welcome New Staff
TusaRebecca Schap, PhD, MPH, RD is a Cancer Prevention Fellow in the Risk Factor Monitoring and Methods Branch. Prior to joining the NCI, she received her doctorate in Nutrition Science from Purdue University, where her research involved the implementation of studies to evaluate a mobile telephone food record designed to improve the accuracy of self-reported dietary assessment. Dr. Schap also has an MPH from the Harvard School of Public Health, an MSc from Dublin Institute of Technology, and a BS in Dietetics and Nutrition, Fitness Health from Purdue University.
Her research interests include the development of innovative tools and solutions for reducing measurement error in dietary assessment and the investigation of the relationship between dietary patterns and cancer recurrence. During her fellowship, Dr. Schap will work with Dr. Amy Subar. She plans to build on her previous experience by exploring measurement error in dietary assessment, leveraging mobile technology for improved accuracy of self-reported diet, and examining the relationship between post-diagnosis dietary patterns and cancer outcomes.
