CHIS 2007 Data Now Available
The 2007 California Health Interview Survey (CHIS) data were released in
December 2008. Nearly 200 variables easily accessible on AskCHIS, as
well as public-use data files, are available on the California Health
Interview Survey (CHIS) Web site . The CHIS
2007 sample includes more than 51,000 adults, 3,600 adolescents, and
9,900 children. AskCHIS is available at http://www.askchis.com/ .
New items in the 2007 data include human papillomavirus (HPV) knowledge
and vaccine use. Variables that have been collected previously on CHIS
and were collected again in 2007 include a range of cancer control items
such as the following:
- cancer screening test (Pap test, mammography, colorectal cancer
screening modalities [fecal occult blood test and endoscopy]);
- hormone replacement therapy (HRT) use;
- physical activity;
- diet; and
- the food environment.
